OBJ2Voxel - Minecraft Build Helper
A downloadable tool for Windows
This tool is intended to be used for making builds in Minecraft from 3D models in .obj format but may be useful in other voxel building games as well. Simply load an OBJ from anywhere on your hard drive. Rotate and Scale as you like, there is a "ruler" that shows bedrock, sea level, and build height. Displaying the "Slice" you're on (Slice Mode) is the real hero here, allowing you to build your build one layer at a time. Variations in block color also aid in building.
File Location Ex.: C:\My Documents\model.obj
For testing, there is a sample model in the "model" folder in the zip file so you can see how things work.
You will have to scale up just about any model at least a few times to be able to see it, unless the original size of you model was pretty large.
Caution: Generating Voxels takes a long time at Max build height (make some tea, watch a Youtube video or two)
Also Caution: Make sure to have your model upright, the way it was in the 3D modelling program or the way you downloaded it. Models seam to be 90 degrees rotated when they come in so make sure to rotate them upright, the bounding box seems to always be upright so undesirable results may happen if model not rotated upright before block generation.
